What is The ACOP
ACOP is the official pediatric organization of the American
Osteopathic Association. Government agencies turn to ACOP when
they want an official position on the practice of pediatrics.
ACOP submits resolutions concerning the practice of pediatrics to
the AOA House of Delegates, taking the lead on positions and
standards concerning children. ACOP's Committee on Graduate
Medical Education (GME) establishes basic requirements for approval
of residency training programs in pediatrics and pediatric
subspecialties. Through its Committee on GME, ACOP maintains
important relationships with the AOA and its Council on Osteopathic
Postdoctoral Training (COPT). ACOP's government relations and
advocacy efforts represent the interests of osteopathic
pediatricians before Congress and other governmental bodies, as well
as in coalition with other organizations that focus on children's
welfare.
